• Presbyterian Hospital - Hemby Children's Hospital

• Carolinas Medical Center - Levine Children's Hospital
• A Child's Place
NOTE: Outreach Sign up sheets will be circulated during the July meeting. Contact either Rachel Schul, or Pam Owens, with suggestions or to volunteer!
• We contribute more than 500 hand-made cuddle quilts each year to ailing infants and children hospitalized in Charlotte-area hospitals.
• Last year we expanded our outreach to include Quilts of Valor, quilts to honor our returning soldiers.
• Our Guild members sew and provide approximately 20 comfort quilts a year for female cancer patients selected by hospital staff.
• We also assemble and donate many bags of toiletries to the Battered Women's Shelter.
See Photos for some of the quilts we donated.
Each member is expected to contribute annually to Outreach. Members can provide two (2) cuddle quilts, 1 Quilt of Valor, or 1 Adult Comfort Quilt. There are also opportunities to participate in (or lead) workshops, assist during Guild meeting, and deliver quilts. Sign up sheets are available to help with coordination.
Cuddle quilts are given to the Charlotte areas hospitalized children. Average size 40 x 52” (12” blocks arranged 3x4 with 2” borders), but can be smaller for babies or larger for older children. Easy patterns and kits are available at the quilt table each Guild meeting.
Quilts of Valor are given to our soldiers returning from war honoring their service - usually red, white, and blue with a patriotic theme. A great project for a quilt bee, with everyone contributing a block or two, they are a snap to make!
Comfort Quilts are given to our communities’ women cancer patients to offer hope and comfort.
Kits for making quilts are available at most Guild meetings at no charge. Feel free to add fabric of your choice or modify any design. Kits can be just a starting place! You can use panels, your own fabrics, your own patterns, tied or quilted - the choices are many!!!
We have lovely printed labels with CQG written on them available. These may be sewn on and you may add your signature with appropriate pen if you wish. Ask anyone on the Outreach Committee for a supply of these labels.
Please wash, check for pins, and sew our Guild labels on before donating quilts.
