Lecture & Workshop Programs

Lectures and Workshops feature regionally and nationally known quilters as Guild funds and presenters' schedules permit. Currently, but subject to change, workshops are $45 per day, and fees are due at sign up. Fees collected are refundable up to 30 days prior to workshop; less than 30 days, no refund is given. Workshops are open to the public. Cost for workshops for non-guild members is $55.

Note: To hold your spot in a workshop, you must provide a check for the class fee at the time of signup. Separate checks for each class are required.

September 1 - George & Virginia Siciliano
September 2 - Workshop: The Bird of Paradise

This workshop promises to be FUN, extremely interesting, but most of all "technique-driven" George has taken the age old technique of foundation piecing (paper piecing) and "invented a special tool”. With proper use, this tool eliminates all of the reasons why lots of folks who try foundation and paper piecing never go back to it. Foundation piecing is now exciting and fun. Intrigued? Want to experience the "Seam Allowance Guide?” Sign up soon. George will be assisted by his wife, Virginia, who is also an accomplished quilter.

There is a kit fee with this class to be paid at the end of the workshop. While this purchase is not mandatory, here is what George has to say about the kits: “In any classroom setting continuity is critical. If all of the students are working with like tools and supplies, we found that everyone has a good learning experience. We want you to express your individuality with your choice of colors. You are there to learn a technique and that is best accomplished if all are learning with the same tools.” See "Kits and Supply Lists for Sewing Workshops" on their web site or get one from the Program Chair.

She has seen 25 of her quilts make the cover of quilting magazines, with 9 covers in 2006 alone.

As a former high school math and English teacher, Debby has created hundreds of instrucitonal articles about quilts with her one simple ruie: make it easy to understand and help every quilter be confident that he/she can make that same project, too! Math is not a dirty word, because she does a lot of it for you. The workshop is based on a project, but she covers a lot of tips, tricks, and sewing techniques during the workship time.
